Knowledge Classification System A Book Labeling System A Web Site Tagging System A Personal Computer File Folder System The Knowledge Classification System was created by Lawrence J. Fusillo as an original work. It does not use the nine digit Decimal nnn.ddd.ddd designation for subject categories as the Dewey Decimal System does. It does not use the 2 letter-seven digit alphanumeric AAnnnn.ddd designation used by the Library of Congress in its Cataloging in Publication (CIP) System. It uses a single letter-seven digit Annnn.ddd designation, where A is a letter corresponding to the Dewey Decimal Top Level Categories 1 to 9, and 4 new categories. Dewey 0, Generalities →deleted as a top level category Dewey 1, Psychology & Philosophy →Fusillo P, Psychology & Philosophy Dewey 2, Religion →Fusillo D, Deity Science Dewey 3, Social Science →Fusillo S, Social Science Dewey 4, Languages →Fusillo G, Grammar (Languages) Dewey 5, Natural Science →Fusillo B, Basic Science Dewey 6, Technology (Applied Sciences) →Fusillo A, Applied Science Dewey 7, Fine Arts →Fusillo F, Fine Arts Dewey 8, Literature (Fiction) →Fusillo L, Literature Fiction Dewey 9, History →Fusillo H, History New →Fusillo R, Reference New →Fusillo M, Media New →Fusillo N, Nature Taxonomy New →Fusillo E, Extraterrestrial Taxonomy The Dewey second level categories 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90 have been deleted. Out of the remaining 81 Dewey second level categories, 11 to 19, 21 to 29, etc., 24 were changed. While 57 second level categories did not change, their subordinate third level categories often did change to make the Knowledge Classification System more complete. Approximately 50% of the topic categories in the Dewey Decimal System Abbreviated Version were changed. The Knowledge Classification System an optimized minimum set of 10,000 topics that cover all knowledge. It can be used as a basis for web directory listings, and for home PC applications such as storing favorite web sites, cataloging a home library, and as a general file folder system to store data. A “Knowledge Classification System” PC file folder system can be used by researchers, and teachers, and students to store research notes and educational material. When two or more people use the Fusillo file folder naming system, they will be able to find information in the same place on different computers. Internet 2 is the 1 gigabyte per second fiber optic inter-network system used by students, educators, and researchers at colleges and universities. The Knowledge Classification System presented in this book is the World Basic Standard for the Internet 2 Master Directory. While the commercial internet uses “keyword” search engines such as Yahoo and Google, the academic internet (Internet 2) uses “keytopic” search engines. Optimized topic search engines are more powerful than keyword search engines. Optimized topic search engines use a minimum set of 10,000 topics to search web sites for data. If a users types in a word that is not one of the 10,000 valid topic names, then a “keytopic” match is searched for in a “keytopic” synonym table. Web Sites are tagged with one or more valid topic names indicating that a significant amount of data is available on that web site for that topic. Keytopic search (instead of keyword search) allows a more focused search for web site hits and reduces significantly the size of search hit lists making them more relevant. Lawrence J. Fusillo 280 Piccadilly Sq. Apt. E-2 Athens, GA 30605 ii INTRODUCTION The Knowledge Classification System was specifically designed as the Knowledge Infrastructure for all human knowledge. It was designed for a complete knowledge of Nature, of the Arts, and of the Sciences. Great Groups. Knowledge occurs in two great groups; Nature Taxonomy (Kingdom, Subkingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, species, variety) and Arts & Sciences. Great Group 1 – Nature Taxonomy The Fusillo Nature Classification System includes that Latin and English names for all 1.5 million species of non-living matter, viruses, microbes, plants, and animals known to man. The Fusillo Nature Classification System is an English language decanomial (Kingdom, Subkingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, species, variety, and descriptive characteristics, including native location, size, shape, color, and others. It has a cross-reference to Latin species nomenclature. Books listing species and variety names and descriptive characteristics of non-living matter, virus, microbe, plant and animal species (size, shape, color, etc.) are placed in one of ten top level categories; N1 Nonliving Matter, N2 Microbe Virus, N3 Plant Virus, N4 Animal Virus, N5 Microbes (bacteria, plankton, protozoans), N6 Spore Plants, N7 Seed Plants, N8 Invertebrate Animals, N9 Vertebrate Animals, and E - Extraterrestrial Beings. There is no organized system in Dewey Decimal System or Library of Congress Cataloging System that classifies all species and varieties of non-living matter, all species and varieties of viruses, all species and varieties of microbes, all species and varieties of plants, and all species and varieties of animals. Great Group 2 – Arts & Sciences Arts & Sciences Knowledge includes Domain 4 Science and Domain 5 Arts. The Knowledge Classification System places Arts and Sciences Knowledge into the following categories; SCIENCES; P – Psychology and Philosophy, D – Deity Science, S – Social Science, G – Grammar (Languages), B – Basic Science, A – Applied Science, ARTS; F – Fine Arts, L – Literature (Fiction), H – History, M – Media, and R – Reference. Knowledge Classification System Great Groups & Domains Knowledge Classification System The Knowledge Classification System has 21 kingdoms. The first nine kingdoms use the letter N a single digit 1 to 9 to represent the 9 nature kingdoms. The next 12 top level categories use a single letter to represent the 12 knowledge kingdoms. The single letter represents the first letter of the name of the knowledge kingdom.: Nature Classification Web Site Tag & Knowledge Web Site Tag & Nature Classification Book Label Knowledge Book Label Nksp.cof.gss Add.ddd Aaa-nnn Aaa-nnn where; k = kingdom number 1 to 9; 1 = Nonliving Matter, 2 = Microbe Virus, 3 = Plant Virus, 4 = Animal Virus, 5 = Microbe, 6 = spore plant, 7 = seed plant, 8 = Invertebrate Animal, 9 = Vertebrate Animal s = subkingdom number 1 to 9 p =Phylum number 1 to 9 c =Class number 1 to 9 o = order number 1 to 9 f = family number 1 to 9 g = genus number 1 to 9 ss = species number 01 to 99 where; [] = knowledge kingdom; E-Extraterrestrial, P-Psychology, D-Deity Science, S-Social Science, G-Grammar, B-Basic Science, A-Applied Science, F-Fine Arts, L-Literature, H-History, M-Media, R-Reference dd.ddd = second, third, fourth fifth, and sixth digits of the Dewey Decimal number. where; Aaa is the first three letters of the authors last name and nnn is a sequence number from 001 to 999
