Lord of the world, he reigned alone while yet the universe was naught, when by his will and things were wrought, then first his sovereign name was known. And when the All shall cease to be, in dread lone splendor he shall reign; He was, He is, He shall remain in glorious eternity. For he is one, no second shares his nature or his loneliness; unending and beginningless, all strength is His, all sway he bears.
He is the loving God to save, my rock while sorrow’s toils endure, my banner and my stronghold sure, the cup of life whene’er I crave. I place my soul within his palm before I sleep as when I wake, and though my body I forsake. Rest in the Lord in fearless calm.
The living God I praise, exhault, adore! He was, He is, He will be evermore. No unity like unto His can be; eternal, inconceivable is He. Th’ incorporeal one, most holy beyond all comparison. He was, ere aught was made in heaven or on earth, but His existence has no date or birth.
Lord of the universe is He proclaimed, teaching his power to all His hand has framed. He gave His gift of prophecy to those in whom He glorified, whom He loved and chose. No prophet ever yet has filled the place of Moses, who beheld God face to Face. Through him, the faithful in His house, the Lord the law of truth to Israel did accord. This law God will not alter, will not change for any other through time’s utmost range. He knows and heeds the secret thoughts of man; He saw the end of all ere aught began. With love and grace doth He the righteous bless. He metes out evil into wickedness. He at the last, will His anointed send, those to redeem, who hope, and wait the end. God will the dead to life again restore, Praised be His glory for evermore, who has given us bodies marvelous in structure, intricate in design, and wonderful in function. Who sustains our bodies in wondrous ways.
May the words of Your Torah, Oy Lord my God, be sweet in my mouth and in the mouth of Your people. May we, our children, and all the children of the house of Israel know You, and study Your Torah with devotion. Praised are You, Oy Lord, who teaches Torah to His people Israel. Praised are You, who has chosen us from all people by giving us His Torah. Praise him giver of the Torah.
My God, the soul You have given me is pure. You created it and You formed it. You breathed it into me and You keep it within me. A time will come when You will take it from me. But You will return it in the life to come.
Praised are You Oy my God, King of the universe Who enables man to distinguish between night and day Who fashioned man in Your image Who has placed upon me the responsibilities of discipleship Who gives sight to the blind Who clothes the naked Who raises those who are bowed down Who created heaven an earth Who provides for all our needs Who guides man to a sure footing Who girds Israel with courage Who crowns Israel with glory Who restores vigor to the weary Who removes sleep from my eyes and slumber from my eyelids
May it be Your will, Oy Lord my God and God of my fathers, that I walk in the way of Your Torah and hold fast to Your commandment. Keep me from falling into sin, transgression, or iniquity. Bring me not to trial or disgrace. Let no evil impulse gain mastery over me. Keep me far from wicked men and corrupt companions; strengthen my desire to perform good deeds, and bend my will to Your service. May I this day and every day, find grace, love, and compassion in Your eyes and in the eyes of all who look upon me. May You grant me a full measure of kindness.
May it be Your will to protect me today and every day from insolence in others and from arrogance in myself. Save me from vicious people, from evil companions, and from bad neighbors. Preserve me from misfortune and from the powers of destruction that are about me. Spare me from ruthless opponents; save me from harsh judgements. May I always revere God, in thought as in deed, acknowledge truth, and speak the truth even in my heart. Oy Lord of all worlds! Not upon my righteousness do I rely when I bow in supplication before You, but upon Your great compassion. Therefore, it is my duty to thank and to praise, to glorify and sanctify You. May Your holiness be made manifest through those who suffered martyrdom in Your name. May Your holiness be made manifest through my redemption to dignity and strength.
Sovereignty is Yours, Oy Lord my God, over earth and sky and highest heaven, You are the first, You are the last; there is no God but You. Gather those who hope in You under Your protecting Presence. Mankind will then acknowledge You as God over all the kingdoms of the world. You made heaven, earth, and sea, and everything that is within them, Who among all Your creatures, in the heavens or on earth, can question You? Heavenly father, be merciful to those who bear Your great name. Fulfill You promise, Oy Lord, the promise made through Your prophet when You said; A time will come when I will gather You in, a time when I will being You home. Then fame and praise will be Yours among all the peoples of the earth. Beyond all Psalms and Hymns of exhalation, beyond all praise which man can utter is the glory of the holy one, praised is he. Heavenly Father, bring perfect peace to our people and their leaders, to our teachers and their disciples.
