This book is designed as an easy read and was primarily written for addicts and their families. It not only talks about religion but several other topics. Hopefully it will give you insights into solutions for many problems you might face. Our country and our planet have several problems and only non-judgmental open minds will be able to work together to find the solutions we need.
Religion and politics bring out the best and worst in people but they both have to be done. What if you bought a used car and then one day you got pulled over and the dope dog found some hidden dope that was there when you bought the car. You would be arrested and considered guilty until proven innocent. Depending on your history, you may never be able to prove it wasn’t yours. Only religion and politics working together can solve complicated problems like these that may face your friends or family members one day.
Getting out of prison is a real rush! It is almost overwhelming! I wanted to start this book immediately upon my release and I did. I want you to experience all of the emotions involved with freedom or the loss of it.
When you first enter prison, you don’t have anything—only warm water. I didn’t even have a cup. Then I moved up in the world when a guy gave me a used plastic bottle and some coffee. I didn’t have any hot water so I had to be happy with cold coffee, and I was.
Now that I’m out, before each meal and even before a prayer, I pause and contemplate what life was like in prison. If you don’t think today is a good day just try missing one. No short-term high is worth risking being confined and being told what you can and cannot do.
All of this talk about prisons and prisoners brought back a lot of bad memories. In prison, hell is not a place far away or in the future, but it has become your sad reality.
