Barkyard Birds, Feeders and Photography Ed Noll
1. OPENING THE BOOK
BACKYARD BIRDS, FEEDERS AND PHOTOGRAPHY, specific in content and original in presentation, was written for the growing millions of families and individuals who feed backyard wild birds. These people, near to neighbors and community, are often the first link between wild birds and children, and many adults too. The wild bird is an intelligent creature, and a good teacher of nature's ways. This is a book about enjoying and helping wild birds with appropriate feeders, be they home constructed or purchased. Bird viewing is enhanced if feeders and support poles too can be moved and changed readily. Seasonal factors as well as migration, species choice, landscaping, or just keeping the feeding station neat and clean are considerations in feeder placement.
This is a book for backyard bird watchers who truly "watch" birds intently. Throughout the book there are short items (bits) which link you closer to the birds you watch. The last section of the book comprises essays and stories about your backyard fliers.
