This book deals with the current problems of globalization, lean manufacture, free trade, global competition, and the decline of manufacturing through the eyes of business giants, such as Henry Ford, Adam Smith, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan, and others. The fictional interviews are based on their actual words and/or extensive research on their views. Many of the comments are based on their actual writing and business speeches, such as Henry Ford’s My Life and Work and Andrew Carnegie’s Gospel of Wealth, including actual correspondence in industrial archives. It is a very readable format that allows for insights into the problems of today. A fictional reporter Tom Magarac does the interviewing. Tom being the son of the mythical icon and heroic steelworker- Joe Magarac allows for the American worker to ask the tough questions. It allows labor to question capital adding an additional dimension to the discussion. Besides global topics some interviews deal with practical consulting problems with such systems like Six Sigma, Project Management, and ISO 9000. This is a fresh and readable approach to current issues. Each of the interviews was reviewed by historical and academic readers for validity, as well as, to capture the essence of the person. The interviews have been used in MBA courses as a means of assuring accuracy of content, application, and pragmatic use. This process has honed the interviews and the points discussed with executive experience.
