Chapter 3
The Curse of the Earthly Fathers Disobedience
..
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children. Hosea 4 V6
Gods rejection of the family has serious implications for a home in that as His covering and protection are removed the devil and his hosts are free to enter and thus become the power of a curse not only on the father but on his children.
The nature of this curse and its operation are described in the following scripture:
Then I turned and raised my eyes, and saw there a flying scroll. And he said to me What do you see? So I said a flying scroll. Its length is twenty cubits and its width ten cubits. Then he said to me this is the curse that goes over the face of the whole earth; Every thief shall be expelled according to this side of the scroll: and Every perjurer shall be expelled, according to that side of it. Zechariah 5 V1-3
From this passage we see that every thief and every perjurer shall be expelled from Gods covenant relationship. The thief is one who habitually does not pay tithes and one who covets what belongs to others, in other words he lacks good Christian character. The perjurer is one who habitually breaks an oath with God and fellowman. Disobedience to the word is breaking an oath and being unfaithful to ones marriage vow is considered perjury. Expulsion from Gods covenant relationship opens the door to curse. It is the responsibility of a husband and father to protect his family from this curse by being the priest of the home.
I will send out the curse says the Lord of hosts; it shall enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by My name. It shall remain in the midst of his house and consume it, with its timber and stones. Zechariah 5 V4
Here we see that this curse not only affects the head of the household but his entire family and in wider terms it affects the entire community.
As we return to Zechariahs prophecy we see the nature of the curse and the form it takes as it operates in the lives of the members of the family.
Then the angel who talked with me came out and said to me, lift your eyes now and see what this is that goes forth. So I asked what is it? And he said a basket that is going forth. He also said This is their resemblance throughout the earth. Here is a lead disc lifted up and this is a woman sitting inside the basket: then he said This is wickedness! And he thrust her down into the basket, and threw the lead cover over its mouth. Zechariah 5 V5-8
The basket is the prophets description of what he saw in the vision which we would describe today as a hurricane, hollow on the inside with porous walls. In our day with the use of satellites, aircraft, video cameras and television we can see the hollow inside of the hurricane with its rain bands. To the prophet it looked like a giant basket. The hurricane represents the stormy relationship of such marriages that manifests as the spirit of wickedness this is their resemblance throughout the earth. The woman sitting in the basket covered with the lead disc is a demon spirit which provides the power of the curse. Lead is a heavy metal and the power generated by this wicked spirit of rejection supports and determines the height of the lead disc, just as the strength of the rotation of a natural hurricane determines the height of the vertical column. The height of the lead disc is thus symbolic of power, a measure of the potential energy produced by this wicked spirit.
Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were two women, coming with the wind in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven. So I said to the angel who talked with me Where are they carrying the basket? And he said to me, To build a house for it in the land of Shinar; when it is ready, the basket will be set there on its base. Zechariah 5 V9-11
This passage reveals more of the nature of this wicked woman in the basket and the manner in which it is manipulated. The two women are two deceiving and manipulating spirits, rebellion and criticism, which together with wickedness or rejection, constitute the awesome demonic trio for the destruction of the marriage. The statement that the basket extends from the heavens to the earth refers to their influence on both the natural and spiritual life of one spouse providing avenues of rejection, rebellion and criticism against the wishes of the other spouse... It moves about as if it is carried by wings of a stork. Its base or spiritual home is Shinar.
Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. Then they said to one another, Come let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad the face of the earth. Genesis 11 V1-2,4
Shinar is thus the spiritual home of rebellion and criticism and is the place where man made an attempt to build a tower to heaven to worship God in his own way to make a name for himself. It is also the place where God confused the language so that there is no mutual understanding or communication between individuals.
