Chapter
Nineteen
I ran to a nearby corner, not knowing what to do. People ran into the room. Some of the nurses dropped to the floor as they came in. My family was dragged into another room, while I stayed hidden. People were coming to see what had happened.
Finally, all the nurses were told to leave the room and keep it closed until the janitors came. They had forgotten about me. I was left in there. I couldn’t move I just sat there staring at his corpse.
First, I heard a loud high pitch. My ears had begun to bleed. I was screaming at the top of my lungs. A voice overpowered mine.
“April, SHUT UP!”
I quickly closed my mouth. Of course it was Lucifer paying a visit.
“What is it this time?”
“Your time is coming.”
“Just leave me alone.”
“It’s easier said than done.”
“What do you have to say this time?”
“Nothing really, I just came to see how my girl was doing, but to my knowledge, you are letting people scan your brain. What am I going to do with you? So how are you?”
“How do you think I’m doing? You have got everyone thinking I’m losing my mind.”
“Well, you are!”
“I can’t believe this!”
“What can’t you believe?”
“I can’t believe you are enjoying this.”
“We can end this now if you say so.”
“How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t want you?”
“April, you remember that time when your mother was hanging on the wall?”
“Yes.”
“Well, your mother may not have seen it, but I did.”
“See what?”
“A baby!”
“What baby?”
“Our future son.”
“Like hell you’re getting a son out of me.”
“His name will be ... Lucifer.”
“Lucifer?”
“I will get my son because I always get what I want.”
“You may think you always get what you want, but you better try someone else.”
“Oh, it will happen because things just seem to happen when I’m around.”
“You are so conceited.”
“Would you like to know what else I saw?”
“Not a damn thing!”
“I saw something else in you.”
“Like what?”
“You have the need for evil and blood. You have a natural fervor for it.”
“I don’t have a need, just for you to leave me alone.”
“You have a need, but you are in denial.”
“No, I’m not.”
“Yes, you are. The look in your eyes said it all.”
“What look?”
“You know what I’m talking about.”
“You’re such a liar.”
“I’m not lying; you know that I’m telling the truth.”
His words spoke the truth. The hunger grew within. Mr. Smith’s blood was all I could see. The need ran through my veins. I turned away from it.
“What’s wrong, April?”
“Nothing...nothing at all.”
“Am I getting to you?”
“No, why would you think that?”
“I can see it.”
My stomach growled.
“Are we hungry?”
“No.”
“Yes, you are. April turn around and look in front of you.”
I slowly turned around.
“Look April, a fresh corpse just for you.”
I slowly moved across the floor. I wanted to feed my hunger. I stopped, “I can’t do this. This is wrong.”
“Yes, you can, you must eat.”
I started once again to crawl near the body. I leaned over the corpse and commenced to feed my hunger. My hunger wasn’t of a vampire. It was a hunger of evil.
The blood was rich. It ran through my body. I continued to eat and drink from the corpse. The body wasn’t even cold. I pulled my head away from him and looked down at myself. I could see life within. A chill ran through my spine. I felt as if I was walking on clouds.
“Now how do you feel?”
“I fell so relaxed.”
“If you keep this up, you’ll be ready for me.”
Then, all of a sudden, I came back out of my daze. I ran up to the mirror. My eyes were back to whitish. My skin was pale. Blood dripped down my mouth. I turned and dropped to my knees. “What have I done?”
“You enjoyed dinner.”
“What dinner?”
“Mr. Smith’s blood.”
I felt so small to fall for it. I was too busy listening to my hunger.
“You just stepped over that thin line. You must continue.”
“I will not.”
“Yes, you will.”
I looked for a sharp object to cut my wrist. “Ha, ha...” I chuckled. I grabbed the letter opener. I brought it to my wrist. I had slowly begun to cut myself as I laughed at him. Halfway I stopped. I couldn’t. I dropped the opener and started to cry.
“Now, now. Stop that crying. I have a donation to give to you.”
“Like what?”
“Just watch Mr. Smith’s brain.”
There lying on the floor was Mr. Smith’s brain. I stared at it. I couldn’t help, but notice how the blood drained from it. It just lay there. It started to slide across the room toward me. It stopped, and then out flew a book. I crawled over to the book. On the top it said, “Diary”.
“Whom does this belong to?”
“It was once your mother’s.”
“I want you to read this. You’ll be surprised of what you read.”
“Why?”
“Let’s put it this way, you should experience new changes around your eighteenth birthday.”
“Like what?”
“Hmm...It just runs in the family.”
“What part of my family?”
“Your father.”
“MY FATHER? What does this have to do with my father?”
“You’ll see.”
“I really don’t know what your plans are, but don’t want to be a part of them anymore.”
“Together, we will be as one, and this is the truth. Enjoy it while you can.”
