The 5 W's of Peer Abuse:
What is Peer Abuse? Peer Abuse can be defined or described as the mistreatment or excessive trauma and injury that one places upon another of the same age, rank or social class. This can be physically, mentally, emotionally or sexually. As in any other form of abuse, this leads to trauma as defined by the American Psychological Association Task Force of 2000.
Who are the victims of Peer Abuse? For the most part, the victims are those who "differ" from what is considered the norm.
When does Peer Abuse occur? Peer Abuse can occur at any time of the day. There is no set time for occurences. It is happening and can happen 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
Where does Peer Abuse occur? At any function or situation where two or more of the same peer group are interacting. This can be found in the school and workplace. Also, on a phone, internet, text messaging, instant messaging and anywhere else where two or more are together.
