World depression in Germany, 1931 all banks were forced to close. Six million desperate, jobless workers roamed the streets shouting give us bread. Hungry, frightened, and desperate, the impoverished masses turn to Hitler as a source of salvation. Insecure Germans were attracted to Nazism because their personal problems would be solved by a movement that promised to supply everything they lacked as an individual, dramatic-action, a sense of purpose, a feeling of power, which brings about belief in the superiority of the Germanic-Nordic Race.

German Youth: Idle and discouraged boys often got along by doing odd jobs, wandering restlessly from city to city.

Nazi men of action had 1,000 top scientists and technicians who seriously planned to use a man-made satellite as a weapon for conquest. A sun-focusing sun ray to scorch the earth at any point they wanted was not perfected, Archimedes didnt work. Germany had an underground plant, they were building jet planes in a salt mine.

Berlin: Dying agony of a city, 60,000 tons of bombs were dropped. Described as a concert of hell a burning, roaring, smoking inferno.

Here and there on the ruins was chalked the pre-war Nazi litany Oh Fuhrer we thank thee!

Hitlers face was flushed, his elite troops had lost heart. When the SS failed, he felt his last reserve had gone. He would stay in Berlin and die, he could not trust anyone anymore and felt that he must die.

His generals knew they were losing the war, but some remained optimistic that Hitler would lead the German people to a brilliant future with a weapon called Adolf Hitler. But most all officers felt paralyzed. Hitler, I can no longer fight on the battle field. He tells his officers that they are free to go.

Hitlers officers escape war organized by highest ranking officers. The groups who were to attempt the escape were formed.

Each group had to decide how best to escape and get past the Russians. The need for freedom to create a new life.
