God Save the King
This book, like the authors 2002 book The Two Bush Con, was in process as a dramatic event occurred.
Most everyone agrees that 9/11/2001 changed America. Some may not agree that the mid-term elections of 11/5/2002 also brought about dramatic changes.
The Republican Party recovery from a minority position in the American Congress to a leadership majority on 11/5/2002 was a historic event. Some observers claim it was a serious blow to democracy in the American Democratic Republic. They assert It was an attack on freedom every bit as threatening, if not more so, than home front terrorism by foreign enemies.
"The US bureaucracy is being restructured as an autocratic fraternity catering to special interests, not because 9/11 made it necessary but because it provided an excuse to do so.
"Citizen voters bought into the scenario because they were conned, frightened and uninformed. They believed the carefully orchestrated propaganda that promised safety, gratification, peace, and freedom": this is the scenario that those opposed to the George W. Bush Administration believe is the real America of the 21st Century.
Republicans claim that the changes are appropriate and for the better. Their policy reconstruction is coming at lighting speed. "For the average American, and everyone else on the planet, many of these changes are scandalous, outrageous, and disgraceful", critics claim.
Someday the political pendulum will swing back from the far right to the far left or middle-of-the-road. It will probably happen as slow as the tick of the second hand on a clock but it could happen like a thunderclap. Remember what happened to Spain in March 2004? Time will tell which scenario will prevail.
For now, and perhaps the next decade or two, the Republican Party may control how Americans live within their own country and how they share the globe with the rest of the world's people.
It is important that personal convictions continue to be resolutely held so that when citizens are asked to accept societal changes they will examine the options and make wise decisions. If they are not given opportunities to express themselves, they may decide enough is enough and take to the streets.
Chapters of this book are in historical chronology with two exceptions: To set the theme and substance of this book, Our fundamental freedoms are being eroded, the next two chapters, Security for Whom and Smokestack Flexibility document what happens when disciples give carte blanche leadership to messiahs.
In less than three weeks, after the sweeping political change in November 2002, a nationally debated environmental concern became a non-issue and 170,000 employees of the federal government lost organized representation. That was just for starters. Read on.
