Kazumi Tabata is a GrandMaster in the Shotokan and Shorinji styles of Karate. In the 1960s, he was sent to the United States to promote Karate by his teacher Isao Obata (senior student of Gichin Funakosi). Master Tabata established the North American Karate Federation (NAKF; consisting of schools throughout the United States, Bermuda and Europe) and the New England Collegiate Karate Conference.
