Abstract:
The American Army has just gotten into WWII in North Africa when Morris Rosen lies his age to enlist at 17. Probably the greenest of many green recruits, Rosen is designated as a forward observer, so he must edge into enemy territory to radio back co-ordinates for artillery fire. His unit is dispatched to prevent a German invasion of Eisenhower’s headquarters, a thinly-disguised suicide mission. Rosen’s mishaps are sometimes hysterically funny and unexpected, but also steeped in danger. After many close calls in battle and two Purple Heart medals, Morris Rosen helps liberate prisoners from the concentration camp at Dachau.
