Abstract:
The author recounts and interprets thirty-four of the most intriguing and powerful spiritual stories (parables, fables, anecdotes, etc.) from India, China and Japan. He believes that Christianity has become so thoroughly westernized that it can use some “homeopathic antidote from the East” to become more relevant to the pluralistic postmodern societies of the West. The Eastern integrative pattern of “both-and,” for instance, may help the world become more inclusive, while the “either-or” pattern of the West might further polarize it. The book is addressed primarily to Judeo-Christian readers, but all will enjoy and benefit from the wisdom of the East.
