Abstract:
A View from Sarasota is a selection of columns written since January 1, 2000, by Waldo Proffitt and published in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, a daily newspaper with a circulation of more than 100,000 in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

Proffitt was managing editor or editor of the paper from 1961 to 1998 and continues to write a widely read column. By his own admission, Proffitt is a liberal surrounded by Republicans.

The columns in this book deal with critical local, state and national issues which have troubled us during the first seven years of the 21st Century. And still do.
