These four novellas qualify as “cozies” with such varied settings as the local prison, opal mines in Australia, the monastery graveyard, and The Johnny Burgoyne Inn. Sister Cleopha’s cache of Haitian herbs, Sister Lucia’s gourds, Sister Bridget’s prison habit, Sister Jerome’s escape, and Sister Gertrude’s dealings with the precinct house give glimpses into this particular monastery life. Add to that a variety of visiting priests, assorted handymen, sleuthy detectives, and worrisome townspeople.
