As a therapist for over 20 years I have found that most of my clients had chronic stress as either a major component of their problems or chronic stress was their problem. Their physical complaints were simply symptoms of this underlying issue, which, left untreated, would over time cause disease and even premature death.
My Own Story.
I have been a therapist for over 20 years. It was while treating people that I first started to notice that many of my clients problems stemmed from stress situations and the physical therapy I gave, although helpful and necessary, was only treating their symptoms and not the underlying cause.
I wanted to get to the core issue and so I started training in other therapies, especially counseling and hypnotherapy, as I realized that you have to change the mind as well as support the body to effect positive change. Then I started to see real results.
I dont remember when or where I heard the phrase physician heal thyself but I certainly took it to heart. It was due to my personal experiences with chronic stress and the problems both physical and psychological that stress wrought in my life that influenced me to become a therapist in the first place.
Like most researchers I had a pressing need to discover the missing link between stress and the myriad illnesses that present as symptoms.
In my own life I have experienced serious illness, operations resulting in near blindness, the death from cancer of my mother, my fathers massive heart attack and subsequent fight for life, as well as divorce, separation from loved ones, collapse of a business and loss of income, pain, stress induced anxiety and mild depression. Add to these the normal stressors of marriage, children, house moving, arguments, fights and reconciliations, betrayals and other heartaches, well; Im sure you get the picture.
Little wonder then that I suffered from all of the classic symptoms of chronic stress and some symptoms of anxiety and depression too. I was prescribed the usual drugs and 10 sessions with a counselor and thennada. So you see I had tremendous motivation to do something, but what?
Over time and with much persistence, searching and practice I have finally found the answers I had been seeking. Namely, how to defeat the deadly effects of chronic stress that I now present to you in the form of this book and plan. It is the practical knowledge gained from my and my clients struggles with and ultimate defeat of the quiet stealthy killer in our midst, chronic stress. Today I am stress free and you can be too if you follow my program.
