Abstract:
Poetry for my Grandchildren and Everyone Else’s is a collection of poems for young readers. Topics of interest to teenagers; for example, dating and driving, are presented with a light, humorous touch. More serious social issues including homelessness and environmentalism are also represented. The author, a long time educator, taps his teaching experience by including a number of poems related to schools: an hilarious poke at “Deadly Smedley,” the principal of a junior high school, “Bobby Falcone,” an exploration of values, and “Written Composition,” which examines the unintentional humor involved in students’ writing. While written for young people, the themes are mature enough to appeal to adults as well.
